Saturday Sevens!

Thanks to everyone who joined in the potluck yesterday! There were some awesome entries and I really love getting to look at everyone's recipes.

This week for my Saturday Sevens post I had such a tough time picking just seven of my favorite posts from this week, but I think your tolerance as readers is maxed out at seven. So, here goes!!!

#1 Four Cheese and Bacon "Macaroni" at girlichef
If you've been reading my blog for a while, or know me, you know I'm a pasta fiend. Especially if there's cheese involved. I love girlichef's recipe and the overall look of it. So head on over to her blog and check out this "mac" recipe and some of her other equally awesome posts.

#2 Spice Cake with KIDS CRAZY COOKING at MOM'S CRAZY COOKING
I think this spice cake sounds (and looks) absolutely stunning! But the other reason that I picked this post by my new friend Tina is because I love her blog hop, which focuses on cooking with kids--fun to read about even if you're like me and kid-less. Whether you have little ones or not, I urge you to check out Tina's blog.

#3 Ile de France Camembert Stuffed Sliders at Kahakai Kitchen
Dreamy. That's the one word I'd use to summarize this recipe, if I had to pick just one. Fortunately, this is my blog and I have no word counts. I've been talking about these sliders this week, and even tried to get hubby to make sliders for a party so that I could sneak some brie into the middle. Alas, for now, I have to settle for drooling over Deb's awesome writing and photos. Please check this out so I can live vicariously for just a few more days!

#4 Italian Chopped Salad in Shells by DeeDee's Delights
I love DeeDee's ideas - and I would have never thought about using pasta shells as a serving dish for a salad of any kind, but I also really love the recipe that she's selected and her special tips on how to get it juuuusssst right! How awesome is this!?

#5 Sweet & Spicy Pumpkin Seeds by Nina @ Momma Go Round
I think this is a fantastic and incredibly creative use of leftover pumpkin seeds. Not to mention tasty! I can't wait to try this with the next squash we cook! From the cumin to the ginger to the peanut oil I think these spices sound delish!!

#6 Homemade Butternut Squash and Apple Stuffed Tortellini at Cook's Book
I love pasta (see #1 above) and always have wanted to try making my own. I thought it was so incredibly hard (and it may be), but Marisa makes this look so easy. I love the flavor combination of butternut squash and apples and I cannot imagine this enough. This is DEFINITELY on my list of foods to make!

#7 Stuffed Baked Apples with Apple Veloute at The Ardent Epicure
I was working hard to figure out just what my #7 choice would be when Google reader popped up and said I had a new unread subscription post from Alisha. This was it. How could I resist? I LOVE the idea of stuffed apples! Don't they look amazing? And the marscapone and roux and all the other amazing flavors make me want some -- STAT.

Thanks for checking out these favorite posts of mine from the last week in the blogiverse. And, thanks as always for reading EKat's Kitchen!

This week, I'm linking to Saturday Stumbles @ It's Come 2 This! Please check out some of the other fave posts on Mandi's blog!

Saturday Sevens!

What a great week! I'd like to thank everyone who takes the time to read my blog! Each time I see a new follower my heart does a little dance, and I tell my husband! So thank you, sincerely, to each and every one of you!

Now onto the Saturday Sevens, seven blog posts I've stumbled across this week that I think are extra special.

#1 Hi Hat Halloween Cupcakes by Hanna @ Bouffe e Bambini

Take a look at the height and sheer deliciousness of these cupcakes. Don't you want one? She says they can be challenging to make, but I'm thinking that they might just be worth it!
#2 London Broil with Spicy Chimichurri by Jenn at OuR KrAzy kItChEn

We had steak chimichurri as one of the dishes at our wedding. Yum... it was possibly the biggest hit that day. So when I saw this recipe this week, I knew I had to share it with you. Besides, their pictures are fab!

#3 Crock Pot Apple Sauce by Heather Lynne @ Hezzi-D's Books and Cooks
YUM! Lots of fall recipes to be shared this time of year, but I love this recipe that Heather has shared. I think we'll head over to the Farmer's Market in a few minutes and load up on any apples (and other fall treats) that are available

#4 Pear Gorgonzola Harvest Salad by Michele @ Fit Foodista
Yum Yum Yum. I love all of the flavors that Michele has used here! Definitely one of my favorite dishes from this week!

#5 Pepperjack Peach Chicken Quesadilla with Honey Lime Sour Cream by Debbi @ Debbi Does Dinner Healthy

Just looking at the title of this you can see all of the amazing flavors that combine in Debbi's dish! Love the look of the quesadillas and the savory tastes and textures.

#6 Skillet Apple Cake by Indie.Tea @ Darjeeling Dreams
I love the beauty of this cake while it's in the skillet, as well as it's simplicity. There were lots of apple recipes floating around this week and I love the flavors in this aromatic cake.

#7 Pizza Mummies by Peach @ The Peach Kitchen
It's fall, and Halloween is just around the corner, which means that the blogiverse is alive with both fall and Halloween recipes. I love the creativity that Peach uses in these little pizzas, and of course, who doesn't love pizza?

That's it for Saturday Sevens this week - Hope that these great posts pique your interest -- and your palate -- as they did mine. Have a great weekend!

Saturday Sevens!

The week in review!!! There, once again, have been so many fantastic posts and great ideas this week. It's so hard to narrow it down to just seven favorites -- but here goes. These are some of my favorite posts from this week (in no particular order!) and I highly encourage you to take a look at each of these!

Donna is one of my new blog friends that I've gotten to "know" over the past few weeks. I love this recipe, which she coincidentally shared in the Friday Potluck. Doesn't it look tasty?

#2 Open-Face Wild Mushroom Provolone Sandwich from Tanantha @ I Just Love My Apron
I'm a sucker for mushroom anything, but doesn't this sandwich look amazing? That's why it's one of my favorites this week!

Though I don't eat a lot of ice cream or a lot of cake, I want this. Now! Heather's recipes always look delicious, AND her photos are always spectacular!

#4 Parmesan Encrusted Garlic Shrimp by Michele @ Fit Foodista
If I haven't shared already, I LOVE seafood. Love Love Love seafood. I miss eating shrimp the same day it was caught from my dad's boat. Soon, I'll be back in AK and can look forward to that again, maybe, if my mom and dad are willing to share! :) Enough with waxing nostalgic. I love this recipe of Michele's--I think it looks amazing and I love garlic and parmesan flavors, especially the way they marry together/

I love the idea of lettuce wraps and I love the idea of mini-turkey-meatballs. And I love Thai flavoring and spices. It follows that this would be one of my favorites from this week! Kalyn's Kitchen always has great recipes and I love following her blog.

#6 Gourmet Caramel Apples from Jacqueline @ Purple Chocolat Home
I've been thinking about this post since last Sunday, when I first saw it. We just bought a bunch of apples from Costco, and I've been dreaming about making some of these delicious creations. Yes, mine would likely not turn out quite so beautiful, but a girl can dream! YUM!

#7 Giada's White Bean Dip with Pita Chips by Deb @ Kahakai Kitchen
Can you say YUM!? This looks so delicious - and Deb's photos are also always spectacular. Deb linked this to my Friday Potluck, and I love this dip that is healthy and packed with great flavor. Can't wait to try!

Thanks for checking out my week's round-up and I hope that you also take the time to visit these other blogs! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Saturday Sevens!

I found the idea of recognizing some of my favorite posts from blogland each week from Saturday Stumbles at Debbi Does Dinner Healthy,

Instead of just commenting on individuals' blogs, and telling them how much I love their posts, I want to tell you about some of the blog posts I think are some of the greatest out from the last week! So here are my top seven picks this week! (I wanted to do 3 then 5, but 7 is where the logical buck stops, and where my self control kicks in. Go figure!!)

#1 Cooking on a Shoestring Budget: Create Your Own Muffin @ Darcy's Kitchen Capers

DarcyLee breaks down the proportions behind a muffin and tells you how to be incredibly creative AND resourceful, AND still manage to create a spectacularly wonderful muffin! This is so helpful to me, as, when it comes to baking, I have to follow a recipe!

#2 Coq Al Vin Bianco @ Fit Foodista

Michele shares one of her all-time favorite recipes - and I think it sounds splendid! Looks deeeelish

#3 New Orleans Style "Shrimp" Creole with Fresh Black Tiger Prawns @ Foodie Fixx

I love just about every single one of Marea's creations that I've seen. I love Cajun food, and this does NOT disappoint. Highly recommend giving her blog a read!

#4 Apple Cheddar Soup @ My Tasty Journey

You may have seen Donna's post on my Friday Potluck this week, but it's one of my favorites for sure. All apples and cheddar and wonderful fall flavors. I really really really really want to try.

#5 Local Food Challenge @ Kahakai Kitchen

Deb has been participating in a challenge to eat local (Hawaii) all week and I've been loving her dishes (and her photos are FAB!) and her stories. I've only linked to her day 4 post, but highly recommend reading through!

#6 Roasted Garlic and Goat Cheese Tomato Mini Tarts @ Tasty Trials

I always look forward to Karen's recipes, and her photos! Take a look - aren't they gorgeous? Plus when I see the photo and read the recipe for the Tarts, I start to drool just a bit!!

and
#7 Tangy Sweet Plum Spiced Chicken or Pork @ Debbi Does Dinner Healthy

I love all of the flavor combinations that Debbi has combined into this awesome recipe. I can't wait to get some plum sauce and start cooking! Debbi also brought this to this weeks' Friday Potluck and I love love love the ideas in it!

Hope you enjoy these favorites. Please stop by these blogs and show them some love, and, be sure to let them know where you're visiting from! :)
