A little about me...

I recently learned that I love cooking... anything. I also love writing.

Meet EKat's Kitchen, the best of both worlds, where I get to cook and then write about it!

EKat's Kitchen was born as an experiment in healthy cooking (specifically low-sodium), and it's morphed into cooking, beer making, wine making, and life... it may also become about my quest to incorporated fresh local foods into my lifestyle.

I'm originally from Alaska, and although my husband's career in the Army has taken me away from (and subsequently returned me home to) Alaska, well, as they say, you can't take the Alaska out of the girl. Though I'm not as outdoorsy as many friends, I love to get outside in the fresh air... especially if mountains OR ocean are involved.

Life as an Army wife is totally different than Life Before Army and even after over four years of being an Army significant other, I'm still getting used to the idea that we don't get to choose where we live or how long we live there. I've learned that it's all part of the adventure and I'm getting to see parts of the country I might never have seen before (let alone lived.)

HAHAHA! I may never actually learn that one, but at least I know to let it roll off my shoulders when a plan fails miserably due to the Army's schedule.

My goal is to try at least one new recipe a week and blog about it, or about whatever else is going on - that might be new or interesting, or not.
